    Webinar: Families First Coronavirus Response Act: What are Your Obligations for Paid and Unpaid Leave?

    ABOUT THE WEBINAR:

    The Families First Coronavirus Response Act (FFCRA), which includes the Emergency Paid Sick Leave Act and the Emergency Family and Medical Leave Expansion Act effective April 1, 2020 to December 31, 2020 applies to business with fewer than 500 employees and certain public employers.  We will explain your obligations for paid and unpaid leave under the Act.

    ABOUT OUR SPEAKERS:

    Kathleen “Katie” A. O’Grady is an Associate in the Denver, Colorado, office of Jackson Lewis P.C. Her practice focuses on representing employers in workplace law matters, including single-plaintiff discrimination and single-plaintiff wage and hour cases.  Ms. O’Grady is a member of Jackson Lewis’s Disability, Leave and Health Management (DLHM) Practice Group and is the Denver office’s designated DLHM attorney.  Her clients include healthcare companies, financial service companies, and federal contractors, among others.

    Jacqueline R. Guesno is Of Counsel in the Denver, Colorado, office of Jackson Lewis P.C. She represents employers before federal and state courts and administrative agencies in matters involving alleged violations of the Americans with Disabilities Act, Title VII of the Civil Rights Act, the Age Discrimination in Employment Act, the Family and Medical Leave Act, the Fair Labor Standards Act, the Fair Employment and Housing Act, and the Colorado Anti-Discrimination Act.

    Medical practices and patients are experiencing a shift in financial responsibility for healthcare services. Patients are becoming increasingly responsible for a higher portion of the services they receive from providers. This trend has created a new challenge for practices to stay financially viable. This session will address this new trend and how practices can adapt.
    Objectives:
    • Review the importance of a focused time of service collection strategy
    • Analyze approaches to improve price estimation and transparency
    • Recognize the necessity of effective communication in the financial experience


    ABOUT OUR SPEAKER:

    Laura Watkins, FACMPE, CPC is a Senior Practice Manager Consultant with Medical Practice Services at SVMIC. In this role, she assists physicians and their staff with revenue cycle and financial assessments, billing, coding, HIPAA, and OSHA. She has over 30 years of healthcare experience with 21 years specializing in billing and revenue cycle management. Laura received her Bachelor’s degree in Marketing from Murray State University. She is a Board Certified Medical Practice Executive and Fellow in the American College of Medical Practice Executives and received certification as a Professional Coder from the American Academy of Professional Coders. Laura currently serves as the President for Nashville Medical Group Management Association.
