CMS Releases 2027 Medicare Advantage and Part D Advance Notice |
CMS released the 2027 Medicare Advantage and Part D Advance Notice, which includes a proposed Medicare Advantage payment increase of 0.09%, or over $700 million. The payment increase is relatively low (compared to the final 2026 increase of over 5%) and is driven largely by updates to the risk adjustment mode, including a proposal to exclude diagnosis information from unlinked chart reviews from risk score calculations. The final 2027 rate announcement will be published by April 6th. Congress Holds Hearings on Health Insurance Affordability Last week, the House Committee on Energy and Commerce and Committee on Ways and Means held dual hearings on lowering health care costs and health insurance affordability, inviting CEOs from UnitedHealth Group, CVS Health, Elevance Health, the Cigna Group, and Ascendiun to testify. MGMA sent a letter to both committees urging action on prior authorization reform, which often leads to delays in care, worsening conditions, and costlier interventions, ultimately driving higher downstream healthcare spending. Visit our Contact Congress page and send letters to your representatives to advocate for the prior authorization reform by passing the Seniors' Act. |
