How do you “trust but verify” that your 3^rd party IT company is protecting your business as well as their own organization? Often the tech companies that support your technology leave their own technology, processes, policies, and procedures in shambles.  The old saying “the cobbler’s wife has no shoes” is so often true.  Of course, you should trust your third-party technology service providers, but trust without verification can put your organization into an unknown and likely precarious position.  This one-hour educational session taught by a seasoned 25-year IT professional will offer practical ways for Practice Managers and organizational leaders to evaluate how well their IT company is protecting their own systems which directly impacts the security of their clients.

1. Discuss what are the common tools used to manage your infrastructure by a third party and how are they secured?
2. Describe what are some reasonable internal policies that third party providers should have in place to ensure they are properly protected?
3. Explain how to broach the subject with your third-party providers?  What questions do you ask and what are acceptable answers?
4. Evaluate if your third-party provider carries liability and cyber liability insurance?

No matter how secure you think your organization is, it only takes one insecure vendor with access to your systems to compromise your entire network and data.
