Physicians and their staff are involved in delivering excellent services to patients and families. During that service, there are many well intentioned things that are done that may put the staff at risk for violating compliance areas. Being well informed of those risks is the first step towards compliance. This practical session will challenge the participant to apply lessons learned to their practice setting and come up with a plan to address areas of risk. Also, a sample presentation with case scenarios will be provided to share with staff.
By attending this session, the participants should be able to:
1. Understand the many compliance risks that medical practices face
2. Educate medical practice staff on ways to prevent HIPAA violations
3. Identify at least three compliance areas that may relate to their medical practice
